Inverness Botanic Gardens Visit

These are Members of the Shed’s ‘Friendship Group‘ who joined me on safari, on Thursday morning (27/6), as we enjoyed a gentle stroll around the magnificent Inverness Botanic Gardens, in the company of Gillian, one of the senior gardeners. En route, she gave us a potted history of the
establishment of the gardens and her encyclopaedic knowledge of all the ‘blooming’ species on display was truly impressive. She was well able to field most, if not all of our questions, even those tricky ones from Bob Macdonald, who clearly knows a thing or three about trees, shrubs and miscellaneous green stuff. It was so warm and sunny that we had to go into the Tropical House to cool down! The impressive glasshouses showed the range of plant diversity with species from the tropical rainforests to the arid scorching desert. Visitors of all ages will be amazed by the mixture of the familiar and the spectacular.
Our visit was very professionally captured on camera by Danielle, a very friendly member of the team working within these spectacular grounds. This little corner of Inverness is truly a hidden gem and if you haven’t been yet, then I’d urge you to do so. Our wee group can even recommend the quality of the refreshments on offer and Ken McGowan can vouch for the tasty biscuits too - or should that be three Ken?
